Piano Contest J.S. Bach

“Ars Antiqua” is a music association founded in Sestri Levante with the aim of spreading classical music knowledge in the area through a wide range of activities organised during the year.

Since 1983 the “Chamber Music Summer Festival”, the first initiative organised by the Association, is a reference point for world-wide known artists.

Some initiatives are specifically designed for young people. Since 1985, music lessons and concerts with the title “Music and Instruments” are delivered to elementary school students, together with the “Autumn Concerts” shows, consisting of concerts preceded by an introduction and guide to the listening.

The “J.S. Bach” National Piano Contest is the most famous event organised by the association. Its long history and tradition contribute to add value and prestige to the contest.

Created to promote young talented artists, considered one of the most qualifying contests in the field thanks to the effective organisation and the professional jury. The competition takes place every year in spring and it is open also to children younger than 10 years old, with a dedicated category. Scholarships and cash prizes to be won, not to mention the chance to perform in Convento dell’Annunziata in Sestri Levante, an historical building with view on the breath-taking Baia del Silenzio.
